$5 Million Prize Pool - Artela Frontier Program Guide

At Artela, we believe in fostering a vibrant and innovative ecosystem where developers, creators, and visionaries can thrive. That's why we are thrilled to introduce the Artela Frontier Program, an ambitious initiative designed to accelerate the growth of our ecosystem through a $5 million prize pool dedicated to supporting the most innovative projects.

Program Timeline

The Frontier Program kicks off with Phase 1, running from July 16th, 2024, until the end of the testnet (tentatively set for September 15th, 2024). This period is crucial for developers and users alike to contribute to and interact with the projects that will shape the future of Artela.

Prize Pool

$5M worth of Artela Tokens, subject to a standard vesting period

  1. For 5 Tracks: DeFi/Gaming/AI and Infra/Social/Surprise Me

  2. User <> Developer Share

    The incentive distributed, by the day Phase 1 ends, would be distributed 50-50 to developers and users that interacted with the dApps contested during this period.

  3. Grant Distribution Criteria:

    1. Benchmark: After review by the Artela Foundation, projects fully functional and deployed on Artela with UAW > 20k and MAU > 2k (The Hard Cutoff) will be eligible for consideration. Any project found to engage in Sybil Activity will be disqualified. Participating projects meeting the UAW and MAU thresholds will receive a base incentive of $5k.

    2. Prize Distribution: After meeting the hard cutoff, projects will be evaluated within their respective tracks. The top 10 projects in each track, based on overall performance, will receive prizes.

Judging Criteria For Shortlisting

We will incorporate the following criteria into our project selection process: On-chain Activity, Technical Excellence, and Community Engagement. Key indicators include TVL, UAW and MAU, X followers, etc.

Final Rank Determination Formula:

50% On-chain Activity + 40% Technical Excellence + 10% Community Engagement

  1. On-chain Activity = 20% UAW + 60% MAU (For the final month before the deadline) + 20% Transaction Frequency

  2. Technical Excellence is calculated based on criteria for these elements:

  • Architecture and Design Quality

  • Code Quality and Maintainability

  • Performance and Scalability

  • User Experience (UX)

  • Security and Bug-Free Operation

Community Engagement will be based on social media followers, using X as the primary source.

Grant Categories

The Hard Cutoff is 20K UAW and 2K MAU for the final month.

The grants under the Artela Frontier will be categorized based on the type and scope of the dApps. These categories are designed to address various aspects of the blockchain ecosystem, from finance to gaming and beyond. The categories include:

  1. DeFi

    • Support for next generation DeFi dApps aimed at enhancing the financial infrastructure on Artela.

    • Examples: Lending protocols, decentralized exchanges (DEXs), yield aggregators, derivatives, liquidity layers, liquidity management dashboards, trading bot infrastructure, etc.

  2. Gaming

    • Support for web3 games with engaging social mechanics and viral potential.

    • Examples: Play2Earn, RPG, Strategy, Simulation, Action, Sports, Fully Onchain Game, etc.

  3. AI & Infrastructure

    • Integrate AI technologies to provide intelligent services and automation within the ecosystem and support for projects that enhance Artela's technical infrastructure and ecosystem tools.

    • Examples: AI integration, AI Agent, open-source technical projects, SDKs, CLIs, IDEs, DAO-related tools, NFT tooling, Oracles, Indexers, Subgraphs, Wallets etc.

  4. Social

    • Support for next generation social products with built-in social networking protocols that enable secure, transparent, and efficient interactions.

  5. Surprise Me!

    • If you have any other ideas that do not fit into any of the categories above, feel free to contact us to be included in this 5th category.

Special: Aspect-Powered dApps

  • Grant Milestone: Grants for teams developing dApps utilizing Artela's EVM compatibility and Aspect extensions. If built with Aspect, then no matter building under which categories, the grant should be added with a bonus.

    • Focus: Proof of Concept (PoC) development, integrating WASM extensions with existing EVM smart contracts.

    • Tier 1: Gold Medal, with Aspect that got the highest marks according to our criteria, receive 150% in grants

    • Tier 2: Silver Medal, 120% in grants.

    • Tier 3: Bronze Medal, 110% in grants.

  • Once you've submitted your form, the Artela Foundation and a panel of external experts will promptly review your application.

  • The selection criteria for Artela Frontier are innovation, execution, user acquisition strategy, and alignment with Artela’s objectives.

Step 3: Confirmation

  • We will contact shortlisted projects through email.

  • After the selection and confirmation of projects that have made it into Artela Frontier, we will set up dedicated dApp pages on our official website for outstanding performance and top-ranked projects, offering them enhanced visibility and exposure. And the shortlisted projects will receive full-channel support from Artela, including our official Twitter and community.

Step 4: Engage and Attract Users

Now it's time to put your project to the test:

  • Invite Users to the Artela Testnet: Start engaging with your users and inviting them to experience your project on the Artela Testnet.

  • We will be monitoring and evaluating user metrics such as MAU and UAW within the designated timeframe. Top performers will be rewarded accordingly.
